Is NIN Registration Free?
This is one of the most common questions. Here is the honest answer:
In Nigeria vs. in the UK
- In Nigeria: NIN registration at a NIMC office is free. NIMC does not charge a government fee for new enrolments.
- In the UK: You pay NINBVN.org's service fee (£50 adults / £40 children). This is not a NIMC government fee — it covers our licensed officer's time, NIMC-approved biometric equipment, secure data transmission infrastructure, centre facilities, and the administration of your application through the FUWA Agribusiness portal.
There is no additional NIMC government fee for diaspora enrolment in the UK. The £50 / £40 you pay to NINBVN.org is the total cost of the service.
For context: the alternative is travelling to Nigeria, which costs £400–£1,200+ in flights alone — making a £50 UK appointment extremely cost-effective.
How Much Is the NIN PVC Card?
The NIN PVC card is the physical, credit-card-sized identity card that contains your NIN. It is optional — your NIN number is issued by NIMC via SMS regardless.
- → Cost: £15 (add-on to your registration fee)
- → Delivery: approximately 10 working days
- → Validity: the card has an expiry date, but your NIN number never expires
- → Uses: useful as a physical proof-of-NIN document, though your NIN slip also serves this purpose
You can choose to receive just the NIN slip (which comes with standard registration) and add the PVC card later if you decide you need the physical card.
